I grew up in the state of Maryland and earned my Bachelors of Science degree from Towson University. I am a certified general educator from grades pre-kindergarten through grade 3, and also a certified special educator from birth to grade 8.

I moved to Denver, Colorado in July of 2016 and am currently teaching first grade in Denver Public Schools.

During my time in Maryland, I worked in several grade levels (pre-k through third), assisted several students with special needs, and taught general education kindergarten and second grade.

I have worked with children of several ages for many years. Through experience, I have noticed that students learn through their own unique ways which is how I have molded my teaching style.

I tend to get to know the child first and ask them how they wish to learn and what they find enjoyable. I will then use that information to help guide my instruction. My teaching style varies for each child in order for my instructional techniques to cater to their specific needs. My goal is to show your child learning is fun, and that I will help them find their pathway to success.

I am familiar with mathematics in grades pre-kindergarten through third grade. I use hands-on activities, games, materials, and engaging techniques to help children learn new math skills.

I was trained to teach in the state of Maryland using the common core state standards. I am extremely familiar with the standards and how to adjust my instruction to meet the need of common core. I am also prepared to teach the skills your child will need in the future or the skills your child may still need by using the expectations of the standards.

Phonics skills are very important when your child is learning how to sound out letters and words, and most importantly when they are learning how to read and write. I have been trained on and have taught the English language with children of all ages. I use my creativity and experience to create fun and unique ways to learn the letter sounds and word patterns of the English language. I then combine my phonics techniques with my reading strategies to help children read and write successfully.

Spelling is an important skill linked to phonics that requires practice and repetition. I have taught a full year of spelling curriculum to kindergarten students, as well as second grade students. I understand the pacing of spelling tests and the expectations from teachers, which will help me cater to your child's needs in order for them to be successful.

I am willing to meet at your house or a nearby library to tutor your child. Since I am a certified teacher, I have materials, educational games, and supplies to begin tutoring as soon as possible. I am open to your tutoring needs from studying for tests, completing and checking homework with your child, practicing skills, and more! I hope to hear from you soon and I look forward to working with your child!
