About Gracie

My name is Gracie, and I graduated from Colorado College in 2014 with Bachelor of Arts in philosophy, with a focus in existentialism. I have a heavy background in journalism, having worked for several publications of varying style and content throughout the years -- including editing for my college's award-winning magazine, producing stories for an NPR member radio station, interning and writing cover stories for a highly-renowned local newspaper, and more. During my time as the Fellow at TEDxMileHigh, I operated all of our social media and web presence, which included conducting interviews with thought-leaders in the community, writing regular blog posts, and editing all web content for grammar, punctuation, and narrative content.

Throughout college, my time was primarily spent in classes that required extensive reading and writing -- be that in literature classes, feminist and gender studies classes, history and/or political science classes, and of course, philosophy classes. The majority of those four years was focused on developing my writing, and I went on to channel that in my extracurricular life as well. As a result, I am very well suited to help you or your child hone their writing skills and work on essays together. Having been an editor for my college's magazine for two years, and their copy-editor for another semester after that, I have a keen eye for punctuation and grammar as well.

In high school, I scored very well on the SAT, most notably in reading comprehension and writing -- with a perfect score on essay writing, and a near-perfect score on reading comprehension.

Aside from my professional experience, I also have a penchant for bad puns, and can sling some mean homemade pecan brownies.

Please feel free to message me with any questions! I like to think I'm pretty approachable and friendly, and I look forward to building relationships with my students. We'll get a lot of work done, but we'll also have some laid-back laughs here and there as well.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
