I was a volunteer tutor for a local middle school during my four years in high school. Recently, I have picked up the tutoring reigns again by tutoring my high school-aged cousins in math, sciences, and English. I have found that there is a certain satisfaction associated with helping others succeed and seeing their joy in understanding concepts that were previously daunting.
In addition to the "book" subjects, I am fairly proficient in violin; I am currently the Assistant Concertmaster for the Aurora Symphony Orchestra and would welcome any students who wish to become more proficient in violin. Rates are negotiable; I didn't really know what to put, but Wyzant required I put down something so I took the middle road on what they suggested.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
