I have been teaching for thirteen years at the college level and I have taught classes in Introductory Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Psychology of Dreaming, Death and Dying, Psychology of Communication, and a class I created called Quest For Identity for Former Offenders. I have also taught in the Sociology Department classes in Men's Roles, Family and Society, and Career and Development. I taught in Fire Science a class in Job Placement and Assessment. I am very diverse in what I teach and back everything up with the latest in Neurosciences to support the aspect of learning and creating new ways of being.
My goal is to have a student create change in the way they think, act and feel about who they were, who they are, and who they want to become. I also add material from my book I am writing into the process because I have found it to be a format that people can follow to help maintain long term change in themselves. I have been doing one on one tutoring with many of my students for the thirteen years I have been teaching and have created workshops in alternative ways to look at your life and change what you want. I love to see people commit to themselves and to see the follow through as they notice the change in themselves. This personal change depends on two things that the student has to do...and that is bring and open heart and an open mind. I will support the process with every bit of knowledge, wisdom, and energy that I have. I have also been doing Men's Movement work for the last fifteen years.
My Masters is in Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica in California. It is a private university with very high standards, but also it allowed me to look at the field of Psychology from the physical, mental, emotional, psychological, and spiritual levels. Now the spiritual part, is based on your personal beliefs of that word, and what it means to you, I have studied all aspects of spirituality from around the world and use that information to support others in finding out what spirituality might mean to them, but I never do it from the space of judgment, only from the place of observing and supporting my students or who I might be working with on a personal level. Besides teaching general classes for thirteen years, for the last seven years I have been teaching and working with former offenders in a program at one of the colleges I teach at. I have also been working with at risk teens in their support of finding out who they are and how to change what they do not like about themselves, The average recidivism rate in the country is 72% that go back into the criminal justice system. Those that I have had the honor of working with that rate is under 5%.
I have been teaching classes in Job Placement and Assessment for Fire Fighters for nine years, and Career and Development classes for seven years for the former offenders that I work with. I have worked in a variety of fields at the management level, and run a small business.
No matter what you are looking for in your life of personal change or learning more about the field of Psychology I can support you in gaining what ever that means to you. If you bring a open mind and an open heart to the goals that you want to achieve I will bring my essence into the created process and you will learn, change, and achieve at some level, in your desire to be successful. My promise to you is...you do what I just asked you to do about the mind and heart and you can not fail. "You will not make mistakes or have failures...you will learn form your choices." I have been teaching for thirteen years at the college level and I have taught classes in Introductory Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Psychology of Dreaming, Death and Dying, Psychology of Communication, and a class I created called Quest For Identity for Former Offenders. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been teaching at the college level classes in Job Placement and Assessment and Career Development for eleven years in two different programs. One program for Fire Fighters and EMT's and the other for Former Offenders incorporated into a three class process in turning their life around. I have been doing this at Red Rocks Community College. I have also owned my own business and I have been in corporate middle management for over 20 years.
