Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Art History

I spent three years in college level art history including General art history, modern art history, and criticism and analyzing art courses. I am well versed on art dating back to the cave drawings in France done 30,000 or so years ago to the modern artists of our time.

Drawing

I have spent the last 5 years teaching drawing to both adults and children for work. I have taught classes that range in size from 2 people to 100. I also have my BFA in drawing and painting from Western State College. I am easily able to explain technique in great detail.

General Music

I have been a formally trained musician starting in elementary school through college. I am well versed in reading and writing music, music theory, improvisation, music history, and sound. I am a hands on teacher who can teach any general music subject.

Painting

I have spent the last 5 years teaching painting to both adults and children for work. I have taught classes that range in size from 2 people to 100. I also have my BFA in drawing and painting from Western State College. I am easily able to explain technique in great detail to many people at one time.

Saxophone

I have been playing saxophone for 23 years total and 4 years professionally. I have formal training and experience in school and college. I also have a great deal of experience performing in multiple bands in the Denver and Boulder area and multiple genres including jazz, rock, americana, hip hop, jam bands, bluegrass, ska, folk, reggae, electronic, and fusions.
