I am currently an energy analyst focusing on the gas markets. Prior to my current role, I spent eight years as a quantitative analyst, energy trader, and data management specialist. I have a strong fundamental understanding of electricity markets, robust modeling, investment decisions, and database design. On the job, I have put programming and data science to good use, bolstered by a strong foundation in math and the sciences. I hold a Master in Engineering Management from Dartmouth College (a collaborative program taught by faculty from the Thayer School of Engineering and the Tuck School of Business). Prior to attaining my masters degree, I majored in Engineering Sciences with a focus on mechanical and biomechanical engineering, also at Dartmouth College.
In my free time, I like to learn about new technologies. I currently serve as the webmaster for my college class website to strengthen my understanding of programming, design, and web-based marketing. Other than that, I am an avid fan of the outdoors and can often be found skiing or running. I am currently an energy analyst focusing on the gas markets. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
With training as an engineer and 8 years of experience as a financial trader and quantitative analyst, I have a very strong handle on algebra.
I have used a Macintosh at work for 6 of the past 7 years. My roles have included running command line programs and data analysis. In order to support data analysis, I've had to install programs and set up various shortcuts. I am an avid user of several Mac UI features.
In my last job, I spent 8 years developing web tools, algorithms, and data acquisition scripts in PHP. I had the privilege of working for a very well-versed, MIT-trained boss who imparted much knowledge about concepts not often strongly associated with PHP (such as object oriented programming). After honing my skills, I spent two years as a co-lead of the firm's Data Management Team and wrote the key piece of proprietary software for our in-house data scrapes.
I have been playing tennis since I was very young, growing up in the very competitive Long Island region. I played on my high school varsity team for two years and played #1 singles on the junior varsity team the year before that. In college, I continued to play on Dartmouth's club tennis team. I remain an avid fan and play when ever I get the chance.
I have been a runner since middle school. I participated on the cross-country team from 6th grade through 12th grade and indoor track from 8th through 12th grade. For winter track, I focused on the 1 and 2-mile events. After high school, I joined the crew team, which while not running, gave me further insight into training for endurance sports. Since then, I have run numerous full and half marathons and various road races of shorter distances (10ks, 5-mile turkey trots, etc.). I supplement my running with cross-training (biking, rowing, weight training, calisthenics).
