I'm Daniel W. and recently transplanted to Denver after spending three years as a magazine writer/editor/publisher for Local Magazine and as managing editor for TheBurg. I have extensive background in writing magazine and newspaper articles, therefore I'd be happy to assist your kid in editing and writing. Additionally, I earned my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Creative Writing and am fluent in fiction and creative nonfiction writing. I am hip to both classical and contemporary literature as well.
I prefer one-on-one tutoring and enjoy engaging my students with fun and challenging writing prompts. Additionally, I like to illuminate students on the finer, yet fun points of grammar. They exist, I promise.
While not entirely my expertise, I love the subject of History and scored well on both my AP European History and AP American History tests. I nearly had a minor finished going before even entering college.
In another life, I spent most of my after-school hours playing and understanding the game of basketball. I was a second-team all-state basketball player in both my junior and senior years of high school and won MVP of our conference in my senior year. I averaged 18.5 pts., 6.5 reb., and 5 ass. per game for my career. I love to teach fundamentals to all position players. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I played competitive basketball from when I was 6 - 18 years old. I was the co-captain of the smallest team ever in West Virginia to make the state tournament, and sat on the second team all-state team in both my junior and senior years. In 2005, I was nominated to the McDonald's All-American team. Approximately, 1,000 men each year receive this honor. I finished my career with the averages of 18.5 ppg, 6.5 rbg, 5 apg, and 3 spg.
