About KEN

As a student, I fell in love with Geology and later on I decided to specialize in the field of Hydrogeology which focuses on the processes that affect the distribution, quantity, and quality of groundwater. These processes are deeply rooted in many other core subjects including Math, Physics, and Chemistry. Whereas learning about the earth and geological processes came easy to me, other subjects such as Math, Chemistry, and Physics challenged my confidence and required me to put in endless hours of study to master these subjects during high school and college. I know what it's like to feel overwhelmed by the pressure to master difficult subjects, perform well on tests, and attain excellent grades.

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant for undergraduate courses in Geology and Hydrogeology, I discovered a great satisfaction in helping other students master concepts in Math, Physics, and Chemistry as they apply to studies in earth science. Today, I have an even greater appreciation for these subjects along with a stronger understanding of their application to the "real world". I have been working as a professional Hydrogeologist for over 15 years and I continue to take great satisfaction in mentoring young professionals (as well as my own young kids) that are learning how to apply fundamental skills in math and science to "real world" problems.

I look forward to hearing from you and to helping you achieve success in your studies!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Geometry

My math background include Honors and CP level study thru pre-Calculus in high school, followed by calculus in college.

Microsoft Excel

I have been using MS Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Access) in my occupation as a Hydrogeologist on a regular basis for the past 17 years. I have used almost every generation/version of the MS Office suite since about 1995 and am currently using Office 365 and Office 2010. In addition, I am competent in many of the advanced features.

Physical Science

I have a B.S. in Geological Sciences from UCSB and M.S. in Hydrogeology from USF.

Trigonometry
