One of my most prized accomplishments was teaching a blind man how to play the piano. With no experience on the people before this man was able to play simple songs from muscle memory and listening within the two weeks I worked with him. He was able to use this ability to distress himself as well as muster the confidence to fulfill dreams he had in mind before he started playing. This man ended up walking across the United States to raise awareness for people with disabilities.

I have been published in Arts and Activities Magazine, Poetry Journals, The Better Business Bureau Magazine, Public Service Announcements in The North Denver Tribune, as well as the Fort Collins Coloradan. I have experience in the production of plays such as; Too Many Hankies. I have been honored by the Production of my music; The Navajo Indian Suite in American Music Festival.
I have a blog, that inspires and motivates which has had of 25,000 views to date. This is a great tool to get to know me and the way I teach on a more comprehensive basis.
All of my accomplishments are clearly documented and can be furnished upon any request. I hope you agree that I have extensive experience and will be a great motivator and coach to any child or adult I teach.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My compositions have been performed in public. My Navajo Suite for piano has been approved to good acclaim at the American Composer Music Festival. I studied composition as a music major in college. I have recently composed the soundtracks for videos that are self produced. I was also a music teacher, and wrote all the songs for the school programs.
I grew up in a small town where cooking from scratch was part of the culture and girls began learning how to cook at an early age. My church's version of Girl Scouts encouraged "merit badges" and I earning badges in canning, and cooking. In college I had to have part time jobs, one of which was as a cook for an A & W. I married at age 18 and took on cooking for my own family. This meant daily meals but also entertaining and creating recipes. I have worked as a cafeteria cook in which I did bulk cooking and as a steak house cook. I have cooked for decades. I have also taught others to cook, including a continuing ed. class in bread baking. I can bake, do sauces and gravies as well as meats.
I was an elementary teacher for 6 years, which included all subjects. Since then I have tutored elementary school children. I am currently a part of Measured Progress and highly regarded to do assessments for schools over the nation regarding their standardized testing for math and reading.
I was a music major in college and I studied music history with my main curricula. A music teacher I taught music history and made it fun for my students for the better part of three years. Music history is still being made, and I continue to follow the trends of music as the progress in society. I enjoy helping the student see the roots of modern music in "the classics".
For two years in Mohave Valley, Arizona, one other teacher and I provided all of the daily art instruction for three classes of combined 7th and 8th grade classes. From 2000 to 2007 I taught a weekly class for inner city children in Denver writing and art activities. Water color was one of the mediums we used. I have worked in acrylics and oils for my own pleasure and have sold some of my oils.
Part of teaching reading is an understanding of phonics. As an elementary teacher for 6 years I used phonics as well as other methods for teaching in reading. I was also a V.I.S.T.A for 2000 for America Reads in which I recruited, placed, and trained tutors for inner city schools.
I am a qualified beginning/immediate piano teacher. I ran a music studio in Fort Collins for two years teaching children and adults how to play piano. I currently volunteer as the music teach for piano students at 2Succeed. I taught a blind man to play the piano by use of sound and touch.
I have 7 years of voice lessons that taught me skills in diction, projection, and resonance. I have participated and won in public speaking competitions. I continue to speak in public to raise awareness of taming and shaping their inner dialog.
I am highly qualified to teach sewing. My hometown school started teaching us Home Ec. in the 5th grade and there was always a strong sewing component. This included making our own patterns, altering patterns, making clothes from other clothing and full tailoring. We also learned to design and quilt. I used this throughout my adult life, making clothes for myself and my children, including making the patterns myself.
