I love teaching! I have taught in kindergarten and first grade for 20 years. I have teaching licenses in 4 states due to me being single and have not decided where to live and settle down! I received my Master's degree here at University of Colorado at Denver a few years ago. I love researching, finding new ways of teaching, and differentiate as much as I can! I have had extensive training in Differentiated Education, Core Knowledge based teaching, Common Core state standards, DRA assessments/assessments to better instruction, Everyday Math, and SRA/Imagine It Reading Program. I have been at my current school for 10 years now and recently decided on a change. My latest/recent students' test scores proved that I do make a difference in the classroom using the above mentioned training and my own teaching style. I work for the students, not administration.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been teaching kindergarten and first grade for 20 years. I received my Master's degree in Elementary Education (Curriculum & Instruction), with an endorsement in Reading Specialty. I have also worked at Huntington Learning Center tutoring individual students in math, reading, writing, phonics, and vocabulary.
I received my master's a few years ago and have a reading specialist endorsement. I have been teaching first grade and kindergarten for 20 years. Phonics is an important element in the reading process. Students need to be able to decode words so they are able to read them and understand the text. Continuous, integrated learning is the only way children become confident word solvers. Consistency while teaching phonics is the key, with a tutor, with a parent, or with a teacher in the classroom.
I was the JV volleyball coach at my current school for two years, which consisted of girls ages 9-13. I also play volleyball competitively myself on a regular basis.
