I believe in the power of positive thinking. Each lesson is challenging, and we build on investigation and understanding, learning at the student's pace. There are small victories at first. As discoveries are made, and advanced understanding is gained, we keep learning and moving forward. The pace of instruction is one that lends itself to each learner's needs and experience.
As a life long creative, I focus on real skills that lend themselves to real world environments. Skills involve more than just software. Technology changes quickly and creatives need to keep up with that change. We focus on the future of the creative workplace, the advancement of technology, and using the latest, most powerful tools, to fully investigate contemporary design. We also keep a keen on the latest trends in design, business applications, and opportunities in any given field of study.
As a business owner, I have not only faced the challenges of business, but also, the ever advancing demands of technology. When this positive approach is utilized, students are not afraid to fail. When you're not failing, you're not trying. Learning from mistakes AND learning from success, they are all keys to our ultimate goal of being the best we can be. I motivate because I know that confident people will have a leg up on success. Mostly, doubters go home. Regardless of the topic (creative or business), you will learn to be positive, confident and bring to yourself, what you bring to the world. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught InDesign at the college level, both intro and advanced classes. One of our projects in class was to build a multiple page magazine, using InDesign's best features for setting up documents for print. The program has many uses, and we explore all the ways that InDesign can contribute to a seamless workflow.
