I love teaching and tutoring students in mathematics and science. My goal is to first identify the student's understanding and needs. Next is to interactively involve the student as much as possible throughout the session. Finally, ensure the student understands the concept.
I have a BS in Physics and Math from Georgia Tech and a MS in Economics from the Colorado School of Mines. Recently retired, I have 3 years of teaching and tutoring experience and am currently teaching a mathematics course at Red Rocks Community College.
I believe students can meet their potential if they are given the appropriate learning experiences. A few good educators can make a world of difference in a student's education. I strive to make a difference in all of my student's lives. I love teaching and tutoring students in mathematics and science. My goal is to first identify the student's understanding and needs. Wayne is an amazing tutor. My son, a high school sophomore, learned a great deal from Wayne. He is well-prepared, asks exactly what my son needs to cover during the tutoring session, knowledgeable and knows how to teach math so that my son understands it. Moreover, he provides excellent feedback on materials covered during the tutoring session. My son requests him often. Wayne is also flexible with scheduling and works with us on timing. I highly recommend Wayne for tutoring!
Wayne is very educated in algebra and clearly explains problems, making them more easily understood. I would recommend him to others looking for a tutor in algebra and other math topics.
Today we had our first tutor time with Wayne and it seems to have gone well. I hope that out next time will be as fulfilling and knowledgeable as today was. My daughter was impressed on how patient he was with having to review some things with her. Thanks.
I have been extremely happy with Wayne throughout my spring 2013 semester. I have met with him a number of different times and and have always been very satisfied. He is very patient and has a great way of explaining how the work should be done. He is always right on time and has made my life much less stressful. I highly recommend him for any students looking to improve their math grades. Really good guy who genuinely cares and that to me makes all of the difference. Very pleased!
Wayne W helped my son get a "B" in summer school Algebra and he is currently helping my son in Geometry. Great tutor!
This was by far the best tutoring session I've had. He explained it in ways that I could understand and is a very sweet guy! I would recommend him to everyone needing a tutor.
Wayne is a terrific math tutor! My daughter really loves Wayne's approach and she seems to understand the concepts after a session. Wayne made arrangements on a very short notice in an effort to assist my daughter with her upcoming math test. We highly recommend him!
I just want to say Thank You to Wayne for his patience while working with my daughter. She was having a rough day and had difficulty focusing on Algebra. His patience and understanding was greatly appreciated!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have found it essential to master Algebra 1 before proceeding into Algebra 2. Therefore, we may spend the first session reviewing to ensure those Algebra 1 concepts have been mastered. A firm base is necessary in order to build further.
I believe the basic concepts of calculus are relatively simple. If these can be taught and understood by the student, then I believe they can better tackle the mechanics of calculus. As always, I try to bring in real world examples.
This subject represents a great opportunity to lay a firm foundation with the student for all future math courses. We learn the basics the right way.
I like to use the real world to explain the concepts in elementary science. If the student can relate to direct experience, there is a much better chance of learning these concepts. This in turn, can lead to a greater desire to learn more science.
I feel well qualified to tutor the math and science sections of the GED. My academic credentials, teaching and tutoring experience support this. I have tutored students in GED before I began tutoring with WyzAnt.
Mastery of arithmetic is a necessity before proceeding to prealgebra. We review as much as necessary before proceeding.
Probability is a fun course if taught correctly. I make use of real world problems and examples to bring this subject to life.
Statistics requires learning the terminology of the subject. We spend much time doing so and then doing problems to ensure understanding. This is related to the use of statistics in the real world.
Trigonometry requires much work with plane figures and triangles. We focus on learning these very well.
