In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been helping students specifically on college application essays for over 10 years. This means I have worked on over 200 college application essays. My students have been accepted to the best colleges in the country, such as Stanford and Dartmouth.
This year I worked with a student applying to med school, and 2 students applying to 4 year competitive colleges.
Helping students with college app essays is a specialty.
English is what I do. I read, write, and think about English. And I have taught it for more than two decades. I am adept at understanding a student's needs and tailoring my instruction to that particular student. Over the years I have developed my own innovative methods. Still learning vocabulary by memorizing? How about associative techniques. Still getting stuck in grammar? I'll teach the "Golden Triangle"; it works. I teach transferable skills that you can use in high school, college, and graduate school.
