I love learning and helping others to learn. I am a registered professional engineer with teaching experience in college-level math and physics. Also, for 14 years I have applied Numerical Methods and customized programming to real-world problems - providing practical numerical solutions to a wide variety of Engineering, Business, and Academic needs. My Bachelor of Science is in Civil Engineering, and my Master of Science is in Engineering Management.
I'm able to make the complex understandable. For me, helping another person master a concept is as interesting as mastering it myself. My teaching philosophy is:

Sundays: Time and a half.
Gary responds quickly to all e-mails and inquiries and really helps clarify the topic of statistics. He is patient and has a great sense of humor which is really appreciated. He has great knowledge of statistics and Excel and I worked with him last year for a beginning statistics class and now an advanced statistics class- all around five star tutor!
He asked questions in order to get a starting point on the project. He helped me crystallize my thinking. We were on the same page within a few minutes of the meeting and then it was on to what he could really help me with in this project. Gary helped me stop and think just how this would and should look. Gary is so knowledgeable and I look forward to working with him in future meetings.
Gary brought a wealth of knowledge to our lesson and I look forward to continuing our tutoring on a weekly basis for the reminder of my Statics and Structures class.

Exceptionally smart when it comes to VBA. Knows the program so well that he is able to show multiple approaches to differing problems. I HATED VBA when I started the class but I like it now thanks to Gary. He makes learning fun and that helps in retention of the material. I'm doing well in the class because of Gary and his teaching methods.
Just within two lessons I have more confidence with Excel than I ever have. His method of teaching-combined with enthusiasm and patience-makes me excited to learn, as if I was back in my favorite class when I was younger.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
In 1996 I took two courses in AutoCAD from Arapahoe Community College; I received A's for both courses. I took these courses to ensure I would know how to properly use AutoCAD.
I own a registered copy of AutoCAD.
As a registered professional Civil Engineer and as a Numerical Analyst, I have used AutoCAD on a near-daily basis for 20 years.
I am a registered professional civil engineer in the states of California and Colorado. I have practiced engineering for 29 years (12 years in the U.S. Air Force, and 17 years while working for National Home Insurance Company).
While at National Home Insurance Company, I trained staff structural engineers in analysis of nationwide structural and geotechnical residential situations. I also coordinated structural investigation and repair of damaged residences with structural and geotechnical engineering consultants. This work involved a broad knowledge of soil mechanics and structural engineering, as well as the ability to communicate with and direct engineering consultants. I conducted structural and geotechnical engineering research projects that ensured accurate company decisions and minimized company expenses.
While serving as an engineering officer with the U.S. Air Force, I designed engineering projects for building additions, renovations, and new single-story buildings. I also served as a member of a joint venture construction management team on a $32 million Middle East remote underground command/control facility, monitored project cost, schedule, and quality resulting in on-time, on-schedule, within-budget construction progress, as well as identified and scheduled manpower, equipment and material requirements for civil engineering projects.
I have also taught two one-semester college physics courses.
My Bachelor's Degree is in Civil Engineering, and my Master's is in Engineering Management. My professional software development experience is in PowerBASIC and VBA/Excel, and includes turn-key corporate programming in the areas of construction estimation, workload balancing, business trend analysis, equity cyclic analysis, and engineering numerical methods. I completed a book on VBA/Excel as part of a self-study program in which I have accomplished detailed solution of over 500 engineering numerical methods problems during the last eight years using VBA/Excel and PowerBASIC compilers.
