College of Charleston (Master's)
I am a recently certified math teacher for grades 7 through 12, and am currently teaching full time at the college level. I have a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree in Mathematics. I am skilled in working with various educational technologies, including TI graphing calculators and online math and science simulations. I have a creative mind able to come up with new ways of teaching and modifying my explanations to respond to students' individual needs. I will listen to the students and find the reasons why they are having difficulty, and work with them to find new ways of approaching problems. I believe that the students' needs always come first, and I will do whatever is necessary to assure that they learn to the best of my abilities.

I am currently studying for the PLACE exam, and I needed someone to help me fill in the gaps in my understanding of math. Robert explains difficult math concepts in an understandable way. He is very helpful and patient. I appreciate the fact that he explains how to do the math but also gives me a greater understanding of the history and reasoning behind certain mathematical concepts. I have gained a lot from our sessions and would definitely recommend his services to other students.
Robert is very good and he knows calculus very well! He is prepared as well to bring the same textbook. My kid said he knows the stuff and can work on problems at sessions.
My son has been receiving tutoring from Robert D. in Charleston and he is doing an amazing job. My son is understanding the College Calculus quickly and has improved his grade, after three tutoring sessions a whole grade. He explains the subject well and makes sure that he thoroughly understands by working out problems. My son says he is fantastic!
The first lesson is always difficult while trying to establish what is truly needed. So the next should be great because I will have defined what I need to be successful in this test. So Robert should be successful as well because I will be clear of my needs. He was very patient!
I was very unhappy with Robert!! He wasn't patient and my son said all he did was yell and scream at him. Wouldn't suggest him at all.
You were very hard to get in touch with. You were late the first visit, and never showed up the second without telling me you weren't going to be there. I did not yell or scream at any point and did my best to help him. I wish you had told me sooner that this was a problem (I haven't seen him since September) so I could attempt to fix it. However, since you were not present during the tutoring session, I do not know what you're basing this on. I hope your son does well in the future.
Robert is always punctual for our tutoring sessions and he has been very helpful in strengthening my grasp of mathematical concepts. He is particularly good at explaining algebraic problems.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a math graduate student and former teacher at the middle school, high school, and college levels. I have helped numerous students prepare for standardized tests.
I have taught Algebra several times, both at the middle school/high school level and at college. I am experienced in helping students connect to the material in ways they have not in the past.
I am a Ph.D. student in Mathematics and tutor in Calculus on a daily basis.
I have taught probability and statistics numerous times over the last five years.
I have taught Probability and Statistics courses numerous times, mostly at the community college level but also in high school. I am familiar with all the major types of Statistics problems and am skilled in using calculators and other technological aids to do so.
