About Kevin

Ever since high school, I have always been the guy my friends come to for help with anything math or science related. I know I can do a good job at explaining the material in terms that make sense to YOU. I like to come up with real-world problems that the given material could be used to solve. When you FULLY UNDERSTAND the material instead of just memorizing a few formulas, you will be able to retain the information longer and be able to apply it more efficiently on a difficult test question.

As far as credentials go, I was the salutatorian of my high school, but I was also voted best all around by my peers, so I have good people skills as well. I also made a 4 on the AP physics test and a 5 on the AP calculus test.

I recently graduated from Texas A&M with a BS in Industrial Engineering with a GPA of 3.3. I also earned a minor in Mathematics. I would love to help you in anything from algebra to calculus. I also really enjoy physics (especially the mechanical aspects).

Communication is key when it comes to tutoring. There are probably tutors out there who are just as smart or smarter than I am, but if they cannot effectively communicate the material, that is of no use.

If you need help in any kind of math or physics, please send me an e-mail and I'm sure we can arrange a time to meet up and work on it.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Calculus

I have more experience tutoring calculus than any other subject. I can tutor Cal I, II, or III and have had much success explaining tricky parts of these subjects in a way the professor couldn't.

Computer Programming

I am familiar with 2 of the more popular computer programming languages. I learned programming in C in CSCE 206, and VBA (the Microsoft Excel programming language) in ISEN 220, both at Texas A&M.

Differential Equations

I made a B in a Differential Equations class at Texas A&M University last semester. (MATH 308) It is all still very fresh in my mind and I feel like I could teach the material to someone who was struggling in the class. I made a 99 on the second test and really feel like I know the material well. The only reason I didn't get an A was because I didn't do so well on our quizzes.

Soccer

I have been playing since I was 5 years old. I have played in everything from 3 v 3 tournaments, to indoor soccer leagues, to varsity soccer in high school. My club team was one of the top 5 teams in the state in Div II. In high school, I was a 3 year varsity starter. I was the top goal scorer my senior year. I was voted to be on the first team all district and the academic all state team. In college I played in the local city league in college station and was the league's leading scorer. I have also played on several different intramural soccer teams (indoor and outdoor) and have always been one of the top scorers in the league. I have been a trainer for and a referee for teams of various age levels and have been to some of the top training camps in the state so I have a fairly extensive knowledge of drills to work on specific aspects of a player's game. Most importantly, I just love the game and would really enjoy working with a player on their skills and general soccer knowledge.

Visual Basic

I learned Visual Basic in ISEN 220 at Texas A&M University as a required course for my Industrial Engineering degree.
