Hi -- this is Sue and I want to let you know a bit about my teaching and tutoring experience. I have a bachelor's degree in the Teaching of Mathematics from the University of Illinois. I also have two master's degrees, one in educational administration and the other in business management. I have been a public educator for the past 30 years. I have taught all levels of secondary mathematics, from Pre-Algebra all the way up to, most recently, Advanced Placement Statistics. I really enjoy working with students and helping them through the problem solving process.

I have had the opportunity to tutor students in one-on-one and small group settings over the years. I have the patience and skills necessary to be a good tutor and I also make every effort to ensure that my students truly understand the material before I end a tutoring session. My plan for most tutoring sessions is to introduce the topic in a fun way, often looking for the connections to the real world and/or hands on activities. There will then be some direct teaching, followed by guided practice. At the end of the session, I like to leave time for the student to do some independent practice while using me as a resource if needed.

I have spent the past 30 years working as a math teacher. During that time I have taught middle school math, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry. For the majority of my career I have been a high school math teacher. During that time I have taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and Algebra II, Trigonometry, and Geometry. Most recently, I have been focusing on work with Advanced Placement Statistics students.

I look forward to helping students become more confident and comfortable with their math skills. I am easy to reach and have a flexible schedule, so please contact me for your tutoring needs. Feel free to contact me with any questions that you might have or to schedule a lesson.
