I'm Jason! I am a sophomore pursuing my Bachelor of science in mechanical engineering, and I absolutely have a passion for mathematics as well as the "hard" sciences, especially physics. I have never officially tutored, but on many occasions I have helped my friends and fellow students when they struggled. I realize that many students just learn how to regurgitate formulas and just get a surface-level knowledge of concepts, but whenever I help people my goal is to help them develop a complete and intimate understanding of the material and how the concept connects to others. My method of teaching involves walking the student through a problem by asking them guiding questions and assisting them in finding the answers based on the knowledge they already have. During this process, if I find that the student's foundational knowledge of a concept is lacking, I will work from the ground up to ensure that the student develops a full understanding of where the ideas originate. My favorite thing about helping students is seeing when everything clicks in their mind and they are able to toy with a concept and see where it comes from and what its implications are, because that gives the confidence and excitement to excel.

I have taken college math courses from Algebra and Precalc through Calculus III and Differential Equations. I earned an overall score of 35 on the ACT, with a 35 in mathematics and a perfect score in science. Math and science is my passion, and I love extending that passion to others by helping them with homework and test preparation.

I want to ensure that you or your student have full confidence in my ability before payments are made, so I will offer a free consultation to test the waters. My only goal is that the student might develop not just an understanding but a love of science and mathematics, so please contact me with questions or to schedule a lesson!
