Well, howdy do! Don't let my southern accent or my informal approach fool you: I'm a well-educated scientist, and I'm ready to help you with the subject frustrating you (or your child) the most.

My favorite subjects are under the biology umbrella: Anatomy & Physiology, Zoology, as well as General Bio, and so forth. I'm an enthusiastic nerd with tutoring experience in every subject. In fact, when I was a member of my high school's track team, my greatest contribution was probably helping the girls that really knew how to run, throw, and jump pass their classes through my work as a team peer tutor. While I'm happy to tutor pretty much any subject, my real love is biological sciences and math.

I'm a certified teacher in both Colorado (Secondary Sciences & General Special Ed.) and in Texas (Biological Sciences), and have a MS in Biology. (In fact, I attended a few years of Medical School before I became a certified teacher.)

I really hate when a student doesn't know why they are learning something--probably because I hate learning anything that seems useless, my own self. Don't get me wrong: I don't mean I dislike students asking why they need to learn something. In fact, that is probably the most important question to ask, especially for material that seems difficult.

Instead, I want to help you understand why you're learning something, and how you'll use it in life. I believe every student is capable of learning any subject; I also believe that modern public schools don't always behave as though that's true.

As Mark Twain pointed out, sometimes schooling can interfere with our educations. Sure, I want to help you score well on assignments and exams, but my primary concern is that you understand the material we're covering. On that note, don't be surprised if our tutoring session turns into us going outside to play catch, so we can observe a parabolic path, or the physical forces acting on an object in flight. If we're studying Anatomy and Physiology, we might call in the family dog (or your

I am certified in the state of Colorado in Secondary Science and General Special Education, and have worked in both areas with a vast range of students. I live Biology, with many home science projects running at any given time, but also love sharing my love of reading and writing. Oh, and I'm convinced I can teach anyone math at least through Algebra I.

Hello! I only recently signed up to tutor study skills, because I hadn't quite realized: this is what I've been doing all along! I have a MS in Biology, and am certified to teach Science, Life Science, and Special Education in various states. I've been tweaking my own study skills, and helping others with theirs, almost my entire life. Now, I'm ready to help you (or your kiddo)!

I've tutored Algebra I for at least 15 years, from when I was tutoring my peers as an 8th grader enrolled in Algebra I. When I worked as a Peer Tutor at Sul Ross State University, I would joke that I worked as a "Math Therapist" at least as much as a Math Tutor--so many people have had such a bad experience with Algebra! Personally, I love the subject, and I want to show you why the skills of Algebra are useful in everyday life.

To put it simply, Biology is the love of my life. I earned my bachelor's degree from MIT in Brain & Cognitive Sciences, which is a fancy name for the biology of the human brain, and also have a Masters of Science in Biology, with a focus on Zoology and applied animal science. From middle school life sciences to graduate-level biology, I just love helping people understand Biology!

Very helpful

Melinda helped my daughter with questions that she had in AP Environmental Science. My daughter was preparing for a test and had questions on some of the content that was not clear. Melinda was great. We will use Melinda again.

Knowledgeable and Insightful

As a student applying for an accelerated medical program, Ms. Melinda helped me polish my personal statement and make sure it was reflective of me! She is an AMAZING tutor and editor who will make sure you achieve your goals!!!

Knowledgeable

Melinda does a great job of showing how to work through all steps of a problem. She was able to take me from a D grade to a B in just a few weeks by explaining, and working through all concepts in an easy to understand manner :)

Melinda is a Godsend!

My daughter absolutely loves Melinda. My daughter has had many tutors in the past that were condescending, impatient, and made her feel even more insecure about math than when she started. Melinda, on the other hand, has a way of tutoring that it makes if fun and built up my daughter's self esteem. Thank you Melinda you literally are a Godsend!! I highly recommend her!
