Hillsdale College (English Literature)
I am a recent college graduate with a degree in English literature. I have experience in both classroom teaching and one-on-one tutoring, as well as in academic counseling. Working with students is such a life-giving vocation for me -- I learn more from them than they ever could from me. I will bring a warm and dedicated presence to a student's scholastic life and be blessed to join them in their academic journey.
My expertise includes literary analysis, writing preparation and organization, rhetoric, grammar and style, proofreading, research, and reading comprehension.
I also have experience tutoring elementary-age students in math, science, reading, writing, and social studies.
To my students:
I can't wait to get to know you! You have already done half the work to succeed in school by asking for help: It is a brave and humble thing to do. Never stop seeking the wisdom and knowledge of others to challenge and nurture you -- two minds are always better than one!
Thank you for your consideration in your search for a tutor.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I attended fourteen years of private Christian school (non-denominational). We took a Bible class every semester, with an emphasis on Protestant theology; we also studied the major world religions.
I played alto saxophone in jazz band for six years in secondary schooling. The ensemble was a highly competitive, audition-only group -- I was the section leader for three years.
I provided academic counseling as university director of academic services for two years during my time as an undergraduate. Counseling included study skills, research and writing, educational and vocational application assistance, and emotional health cases.
