About Danielle

I am a Colorado transplant, and love this state. History has been my passion from childhood and I look forward to each opportunity to share the love of learning with students of all kinds. I have taught a range of ages in multiple settings and volunteer as a Docent at the Molly Brown House Museum. I am currently pursuing my accreditation and Masters in Education from Colorado Global Campus.

Anthropology makes up so much of the stories we create about the past. The quality of documentation and precision in research are what give us historic 'facts' that we use to instruct how we utilize knowledge of the past to make new discoveries. While a very broad subject it is critical to understanding what we consider history as a whole.

At the University of New Mexico I took as many history courses as I could in a variety of fields. Rather than focusing on just one geographic area, I focused on a more global scale and finding the geopolitcal importance of how the histories map over each other. Using a broad range allows for connections that can help students relate to a potentially distant fact, such as who the Queen of England was during the American Civil War. (Queen Victoria)

I had the luxury to grow up traveling as my parents were in the United States Military. This unique experience allowed me to physically see more of the world, but also experience how local history is viewed. One example is World War I has a very different narrative depending on which country you are in when it is covered in any media.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Reading

I am an avid reader and excited to help students find their own passion for reading. Critical thinking and problem solving are heavily influenced by reading comprehension. I believe these are life skills that I can help students hone while also engaging the imagination and pleasure of reading.
