About Allison

I have been actively pursuing a biology degree since I was 10 years old and saw a sea otter for the first time. I love science and nature. While going to graduate school at Colorado State University - Pueblo, I was a teaching assistant for several different science courses. I love science and I really love getting people excited about biology. It is always exciting when a new concept is finally clear.

I started taking French classes in middle school. I thought the course was fun, so I continued. I had an amazing high school french teacher who encouraged me to continue learning the language. I took courses through college, studied in France, and completed a BA degree in French. While completing my biology degree, I was a French language tutor at the college. I have also taken Italian and Latin courses, which helps me explain concepts from different perspectives. I know that languages can be hard, but they can also be very rewarding. As an example, I was an average student in my English classes until I started taking French. Once I learned more French grammar, the English grammar made more sense.

Finishing a masters in Biology at Colorado State University - Pueblo. Through this program I have taken many different courses, including zoology, ornithology, and plant taxonomy. I was also a biology teaching assistant, so I have experience with geology and some geography as well.

I have a BA in French and a BA in Languages (Italian) from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM. I have been taking courses since 1997, and I have spent a semester in France taking classes. I love the language and I look forward to practicing with other students.

I have spent many hours on my own papers, as well as having my papers proof read. Part of my job as a language tutor and while grading papers for teaching was to proofread the students work. It is important to me that students turn in well written papers. The better the grammar of a paper, the easier it is to explain your information. Context only matters if you can actually read the paper.

Please contact me with questions about my qualifications for these and other subjects. I look forward to helping some of you find a new love for biology and French.

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
