I am a chiropractor currently in practice, who loves teaching and helping others learn. I have tutored friends and classmates all through my schooling with great success. For example, when going through chiropractic school, I had a friend and English was not his first language that was struggling to pass a Biochemistry class. Through tutoring and teaching him the various biochemical pathways and ways to help memorize the information, he was able to pass the class. I worked hard through school studying, and because of that I graduated as a valedictorian for both my Bachelor's Degree and my Doctor of Chiropractic Degree. So yes, I know my stuff and feel confident in researching most subjects to be able to explain it to someone else. I have also spent countless hours since my graduation in personal research on various subjects relating to health and nutrition.

Besides helping people through chiropractic, I decided to start tutoring because it is one of the other things that I love. Tutoring is something that came naturally to me through school. Often I found myself explaining concepts to classmates that they didn't always understand. I love that moment when you can see the light bulb go on and something that didn't make sense before now becomes clear.

My personal philosophy when it comes to tutoring is not just 'giving answers'. So if that is what you are looking for you should look somewhere else. I seek to help my students understand what they are learning. It is interesting how often that a subject that seems so abstract or difficult to grasp can become clear when it is explained in a different way. Unfortunately with many subjects there is just memorization that is needed to grasp a subject. I have learned many techniques to help memorize information that I can use to work with my students.

I have worked with students of all ages. Most often I have worked with high school and college students. However, I have experience working with younger learners as well. Through church I have taught children 3-12 years o

Study Skills,

Study Skills

My qualifications for study skills come from experience. In chiropractic college I was averaging about 4-5 hours of studying a day. Using the study skills I learned, I was able to graduate as a valedictorian from both my undergraduate studies and chiropractic college. In all those hours of study these are some of the techniques I learned to make my studying more effective: organize information in outlines or highlighting/underlining important information; memorize important information with flash cards or using mnemonics; and using small 'quizzes' to test what you have learned. I teach these skills to my students so that they can have more effective study time.

Fitness,

Fitness

I have a Bachelor's of Science in Exercise Science, and then went on to get a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. My undergrad studies were all about fitness and I have continued to study fitness related topics after becoming a chiropractor as well. I have put together exercise plans for patients to help strengthen core muscles to relieve back pain and to rehabilitate other areas such as a shoulder.
