I love learning. As a graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic, I know that opportunity and success looks an awful lot like hard work paying off. As the founding tutor for the Biology Lab and tutoring program and serving several semesters in the Nursing Program's student learning lab at Mesa State College (now Colorado Mesa University), I have had the extreme pleasure of helping thousands of students achieve their scholastic goals, realize their own potential, and take great joy in seeing their grades soar. Aside from being a mom, this is the most rewarding thing I've ever done.

I specialize in tutoring Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, Genetics, Microbiology, Pathophysiology, Radiology, elementary math thru Algebra1, General Chemistry, English, Reading, and history for all grades. No matter the subject under review, my goal for each session is to work with the student on their current lesson assignments as well as preparing for upcoming topics and constantly review for exams. I customize each session to the student's unique needs, gauging and matching the student's learning style. At the student and/or parent's request, I am prepared to assign homework after each lesson as well as provide periodic progress reports.

I am fully qualified to tutor students of all grade levels, having successfully tutored students ages 4 years through 78 years in various subjects, including, but not limited to, elementary math, reading, computer skills, writing/English, science, history, and social studies. I excel at clarifying subjects where a student struggles, and adding challenges to keep students engaged when needed. I am comfortable working within the lessons the student receives within their coursework (homework help) as well as adding outside material to help solidify the concepts currently being studied.

Having utilized tutors myself in the past, I hold myself to an incredibly high standard, treating each tutoring opportunity as if I were the student and asking what I would want out of my tutor. My policy is to never b

Elementary Education

Elementary Math,

Elementary Math

I am passionate about helping students of all ages gain a firm comprehension of our world and how it works and really the best place for anyone to start is in Math. From counting, telling time, and making correct change (without a calculator!) to plotting equations and predicting scientific outcomes, Math is where it all starts. I have been helping youngsters understand math's first principles since I was in junior high (before 1996) and can't wait to introduce your student to all the mysteries and amazing discoveries a solid foundation in math can reveal.

History

American History,

American History

I have always loved history and am thrilled to live in such a dynamic country with such a vivid history. Traditional history learning is about memorizing dates and names, but I know history to be the bright, enchanting story of all of us - and I am excited to help you see History come alive. With excellent scores in all of my history classes, from general Civics to AP American History and even college-level Constitutional Theory, I have been gifted with a wide and deeply grounded comprehension of where we have been. Come with me to discover where our history will take us.
Anthropology,

Anthropology

I completed 24 hours anthropology study in undergrad. I was in the top 10 in each of my 6 classes. Topics mastered were evolutionary/archaeological anthropology, civilization/societal development, comparative religion as an anthropological tool, and America as a foreign culture.
Government & Politics

Government & Politics

Want to know the scariest sentence in the English language? "Don't worry - I'm from the government and I'm here to help." Love it or hate it, our government is arguably the best version of government to spring from the mind of man - so far. I have been an avid student of citizenship, governance, and the various methods by which man has ruled his peers since I first understood that our government had something to do with me - and all of us- or roughly since about 1994. My education in politics and governance has been rigorous, with AP Civics my freshman year of high school and lead me to join the Student Government in College.

Biology

Biology has always been my favorite science and why not? Chemistry in motion, physics with a purpose, and all the gooey bits that make living things so fascinating - Biology has it all! I have been teaching biology to my peers, my juniors, and my seniors (from pre-school through post-doctoral graduates) for nearly 30 years and I can't wait to help you discover your own passion for the dynamic organisms and ecosystems that surround us all.

Nursing

Nursing

I have 5000+ hours experience tutoring nursing and pre-nursing students both in person and online. I have enough understanding of nursing school procedures and requirements that while I as in my B.S. in Biology undergrad studies at Mesa State College, I was asked to work in the nursing lab to help nursing students with their courses. I was also the founding tutor for the Biology Studies tutoring lab, where I was the chief pre-nursing tutor, preparing struglling pre-nursing students for the rigors of one of the top nursing programs in the state. I have the unique ability to prepare students to become student nurses as well as work with nursing students to understand the often challenging and complex material to become effective health-care professionals by engaging the critical thinking skills that the profession requires but is often not required until entry into nursing programs nation wide.

Anatomy

I have been tutoring in Human Anatomy and Physiology since 1998, when I supplemented and supported my own classmates in high school. Since then, I have majored in human biology and sciences for two separate degrees and have assisted students from middle school through post-doctoral graduate courses in their mastery of the amazing Human Machine.

Botany

I have over 20 credit hours in undergraduate and graduate level course work in botany, plant anatomy, cellular biology, and genetics. I also completed a 200 hour independent study internship in wine making and viticulture. I established and operated the Biology open study lab at Mesa State College, tutoring all levels of college students.
Microbiology,

Microbiology

My eye has been glued to a microscope since Christmas of 1990 - I received my first Fischer-Price microscope and haven't been able to live without a microscope close at hand since! Microbiology courses in high school and college, all with grades in the 96th percentile, have only served to fan the flames. Lab protocols and tests, and interpretation of often irreconcilable results are especially fun and Bergey's Manual is my idea of a "light read".

Great Teacher!

Rebecca provided incredibly thorough explanations to concepts I was having difficulty understanding. She provided analogies to make difficult microbiology concepts more simplified and really helped to have a deeper understanding of the microbiology material we covered!

Knowledgeable

Excellent teacher and knowledgeable. I’m very excited for our future meetings. I like the fact that she’s willing to work with students and put things in a better perspective and understanding

Awesome!

Rebecca exudes confidence and happiness through her personality while on video chat and through messaging. She has been very accommodating and helpful. I have never done an online tutoring session as I’ve always been skeptical, but I am so happy I did. She seems very well rounded, educated, and easygoing. Can’t wait for more sessions!

Passionate and kind!

You can tell Rebecca loves what she teaches, and it shows in how knowledgeable she is! Her passion while explaining topics really makes studying less of a chore.

Caroline, 1 lesson with Rebecca

Her passion for learning is absolutely fantastic! Not only does her knowledge base far exceed many professors but her explanation allows for full comprehension rather just rote memorization.

Rebecca went through with me the pathophysiology of the cardiac and respiratory systems. I very much enjoy the diagrams, analogies, and clinical examples she uses to enhance the learning process. Her willingness to break things down and discuss questions (even ones that I myself was ashamed to admit to forgetting as a practicing provider) was absolutely helpful in accomplishing a solid session. Also as a first time user, she was very helpful in explaining Wyzant and showing how we could make the most of our time. I've definitely recommended her as a resource to my study group.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Rebecca had alternative explanations/examples for material and had a positive attitude and good sense of humor. Looking forward to covering more material learning quiz and exam taking skills.

Amazing tutor

Rebecca has been an amazing tutor for my advanced patho/physiology class. She is so patient and breaks things down to easily understand. I received a 69 on my first exam (without a tutor) and then got Rebecca. My last two exams I’ve achieved a B+! Needless to say, she helped immensely!
