Hello! My name is Rachael and I am a Senior at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. I currently work as a tutor for Upward Bound: working with high school students at Harrison High School in district two, but have extra time available for extra tutoring opportunities. I am working on becoming a teacher and thoroughly enjoy engaging in the education of students of all ages. I believe the process of learning is one that needs to be discovered by the student - so that true learning takes place. Because of this I feel it is essential that my job, as the tutor, is to encourage learning, rather than spoon-feed the student. I would love the chance to be able to help in any way possible! I feel comfortable and confident in most Elementary subjects, and Language Arts secondary subjects. Thank you for your time and consideration!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taken cosmetology classes through Paul Mitchell, one of top Cosmetology schools in the country. I have been hired for several weddings for the purpose of applying make-up and up-do hairstyles.
I have taken multiple communication courses throughout college including: Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, and Persuasive Communication. I feel comfortable and confident speaking in front of large audiences, and I feel my background allows me to offer help to others who would like to be comfortable speaking in a public sphere.
As an adolescent I auditioned for and accepted roles in multiple school productions. I was also accepted into CoSA (Coronado School of the Arts) in Coronado, California, while maintaining a regular academic workload. While enrolled in CoSA I took classes in acting, on-stage direction, musicality, and drama. I have also tutored students in theater through the Upward Bound program in which I am currently employed.
