About Melissa

My name is Melissa and I am originally from Minnesota. My husband and I live with our daughter in Colorado. I currently work as an attorney in domestic, bankruptcy, and civil matters in downtown Colorado Springs. In 2012, I graduated from William Mitchell College of Law (in Saint Paul, Minnesota) with my JD and prior to that, I attended Minnesota State University, Mankato and received my BA in Political Science and Business Law.

Not only am I the older sister to 4 kids (3 girls and 1 boy, ranging in age from 26 to 8) but I also work with a wide range of children each week when I coach gymnastics. I have experience with teaching at the high school level through the Marshall Brennan Program, in which law students are placed in high schools to teach 12th grade government classes. During this experience, I handled the educational aspect as well as learned how to teach to different levels of students and build relationships in order to encourage success! I accompanied two 12th-grade students to a National Moot Court competition in Washington D.C. where I was their coach and mentor.

I enjoy working with all ages of students and truly believe education is the cornerstone of our lives. My teaching style is structured and organized, but also fun! I am comfortable working with students on many different subjects and with many different learning styles. I hope the tutoring experience will help your student overcome learning obstacles or excel in a particular topic as well as develop an excitement for learning. I also hope that through this experience, I will learn a thing or two myself!
