Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Econometrics

I have a Masters in International Economics from Johns Hopkins SAIS and have studied econometrics at both the undergraduate and graduate school level. I also have used it in practical applications working for the government and in the private sector over 20 years. I currently teach basic and advanced econometrics at a graduate-level institute in Washington, DC. I strive to make the subject understandable and to teach students how to analyze and apply the results of their work.

ESL/ESOL

The English language can be confusing, and my goal is to help students unravel the mysteries and gain a practical, professional working knowledge of the language. I have both practical and professional ESL experience, having formally been an ESL teacher for two years and having lived in six different countries. Recognizing that we all learn differently, I use a student-centered approach to create lessons suited to the individuals learning style and pace. I also emphasize those subjects that the student feels are the most important, in addition to covering the basics of grammar, writing, reading, and verbal communication.
