Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

As a math teacher and tutor since 2006, I have helped to clear up student difficulties in Algebra 1 concepts including: factoring and manipulating variables, solving linear equations and quadratic equations, and understanding and graphing functions. I worked as an engineer for 10 years and have many examples of real world applications of Algebra 1 concepts.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

As a math teacher and tutor since 2006, I have worked with over 100 students to improve their understanding of algebra 2 concepts. These concepts include the graphing of functions, solving systems of equations, factoring and multiplying polynomials, understanding powers and roots, and introducing complex numbers and quadratic equations. I have many examples of real-world applications of these ideas from my 10 years as a mechanical engineer.
Calculus,

Calculus

As a math tutor since 2006, I've worked with several high school and college students with their understanding of calculus. Concepts include limits, continuity, basic differentiation, implicit differentiation, maxima and minima, and related rates. This leads to understanding definite integrals and various methods of integration for finding the area between curves and volumes of solid revolutions. Other applications include parametric functions, polar curves, and infinite series.
Geometry,

Geometry

As a math teacher since 2006, I have worked with hundreds of students on improving their knowledge of the properties of space, including points, lines, curves, planes, and surfaces - the fundamentals of geometry. I used these skills extensively in my 10 years as a mechanical engineer and have many examples of real-world applications of these concepts.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

As a math tutor for several years, I have seen the effects of a weak math foundation, and care deeply about helping students hone their skills in prealgebra concepts. These concepts include dealing with integers, fractions, and decimals; factorization; properties of operations; and basics of equations. Basic geometry such as perimeter, area, and volume will also be introduced. Having been a mechanical engineer for 10 years, I have many examples of real-world applications of these concepts to share.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

As a math teacher and tutor since 2006, I have helped over 100 students gain a solid knowledge of precalculus concepts. I utilize guided practice to solve problems involving linear and non-linear equations and inequalities; quadratic and polynomial functions, and logarithms and exponential functions. My background in mechanical engineering has provided a strong math foundation as well as examples of real-world applications to pass along to my students.
