I am Belinda, and I am an American ESL Certified Teacher, who has returned to America after four years, or more, abroad teaching English as a Foreign Language. I have been teaching at King Saud University for the past two years, where I taught at the all girls University Preparatory program, which served to assist students in obtaining a firm grasp on the English language prior to taking their first step into their major of choice.
My speciality is working with elementary students who needed the most support to help them transition into the University program. It required a great deal of kindness, empathy, and patience, on behalf of young ladies who were quite frightened by their entrance into University with very little English under their belt. For your information, all students are paid to attend, and school is free to attend, for all Saudi students.
However, not only are you judged, and evaluated by King Saud University, but, you are also assessed by your students as to your effectiveness, and their willingness to study with you again. So, in essence, my students at King Saud University were also my employers, and my students not only want results, but also wanted a kind teacher. That said; I've been asked to return, but, I would like to remain at home because I miss my family, friends, and horse.
As to my methods, I first assess where you are on the learning curve, so that I can get a better idea of what you need, so that I can help you take the next academic step. Once we have established where you are in the learning scale, then, we move onto the materials, and books, you will need. Then, we work out a plan, so that you will succeed.
We will then agree to a mutual partnership, where I am committed to your success as you are, and from there I will provide power points that are designed around the materials you are using and will help you to jump start your study needs.
I will also provide tests to see if you are grasping the materials, or, to determine whether we need to slow down, or, pick up the pace if needed. The goal is to create a workable plan that meets your needs, not, lay out a one size fits all agenda. Why? I believe that you are a unique person who has your own goals, agenda, schedule, and method of learning that works for you, it is my belief that the best plan is built addressing those specific needs.
I truly appreciate the learning process, and I am very culturally adaptive to meet the need of my students. I have successfully taught in Saudi Arabia, The Republic of Turkey, Slovenia, and The Czech Republic. I have taught children, adults, one on one's and in large groups.
Educationally, I hold a TEFL Certificate, certifying me to teach ESL, a Juris Doctorate, in Law, allowing me to specialize the language need you may have, along with a Bachelors in Psychology, which has driven my specialized approach to teaching: one size does not fit all when it comes to learning. There are 5 different learning approaches, and once we find out what works best for you, we will apply it, so that your comfort is ensured, along with facilitating a successful and workable plan.
It is indeed all about you, and it is my pleasure to serve your needs. Hello,

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
