I am a veteran elementary teacher who has been educating children for close to 10 years. I have spent the last 5 years teaching kindergarten, 2 years teaching 3rd grade, and I have other experience teaching grades 1, 2, 4, and 5. Because I have had the pleasure of working with every grade level from K-5, I have a great knowledge of the development of children at each grade level. This gives me the opportunity to really help students working at every level. My desire is to see my students reach mastery of their learning using whatever method works best for each individual student. I give my students real world experiences and use hands-on teaching whenever possible. I want my students to be engaged and to have fun learning!
I look forward to working with you and your student and to see them achieve success in their education! I am a veteran elementary teacher who has been educating children for close to 10 years. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I work with ADD/ADHD students on a regular basis in my capacity as a teacher. I can accommodate for their needs and understand their need for hands-on learning and frequent breaks.
I am certified to teach K-6th grade by the state of Colorado. I have been a teacher for 8 years. 2 of those years were spent teaching 3rd grade, 1 year was spent teaching 3-6th grade for a semester and 4th grade for a semester, and the remaining 5 years have been spent teaching kindergarten.
I currently teach kindergarten where phonics is a daily part of instruction. I use the Wilson's Fundations program for phonics instruction. Our day consists of 15 minutes of phonemics awareness activities, Fundations phonics instruction, and a read aloud that incorporates phonics skills for practice.
