About Tony

Think it's impossible to get your child into college without losing your sanity? I can help! I am a semi-retired D.U. Professor who has been teaching for nearly 30 years. In addition, I've continually served on university committees that determine admissions of and scholarship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.

Whatever stage of the process you're in, I will work to minimize the stress for your family. As a trained, experienced educator and tutor, I can meet with your son or daughter to help set goals through high school, suggest test prep plans, help them hone their list of colleges, edit the all-important essay, take some of the pressure off of you by keeping them on task and on deadline. Let's talk about how we can work together to reduce the noise around the college hunt.

I also tutor students in many subjects.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

As a Professor at University of Denver for nearly 20 years, I have worked with ADD and ADHD students on a constant basis, giving them one on one assistance with their learning, writing, reading and study skills, and collaborating with D.U.'s Learning Effectiveness Program to ensure their academic success.

College Counseling

I have been a Professor at University of Denver for nearly 20 years, serving on admissions committees and scholarship allocation committees. I have guided countless undergraduates through the graduate school admissions process, related testing preparation and, perhaps most importantly, through the process of writing a clear, thoughtful and persuasive admissions essay/statement of purpose. Students I have mentored have been accepted to N.Y.U., Columbia University, Northwestern University, Vassar, Yale, U.C. Berkeley, C.U. Boulder, University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), etc.

Dyslexia

As a Professor at University of Denver for nearly 20 years, I have worked with dyslexic students on a constant basis, giving them one on one assistance with their reading and writing skills and collaborating with D.U.'s Learning Effectiveness Program to ensure their academic success.

Film

I have taught all aspects of film production and film studies at the University of Denver as an Associate Professor since 1995. I have produced and directed 16 films that have screened and won awards at Sundance Film Festival, San Francisco Int'l Film Festival, New York Int'l Film Festival and New Orleans Film Festival - among many others.

My teaching evaluations from D.U. are available upon request.

Public Speaking

I have been an Associate Professor for nearly 20 years in a communications department at the University of Denver. I specifically taught Public Speaking for three years as a graduate student at University of Iowa.

My aim as a public speaking tutor is to help students develop and express their strong, well-reasoned opinions in a self-confident manner.

Study Skills

As an Associate Professor at University of Denver for nearly 20 years, I have coached many students about how to discover and use their personal learning styles to their best advantage.

This may mean that a student needs to discover the value of studying a particular subject, needs to develop more disciplined study habits, and most importantly, needs to develop his or her personal connection to a particular subject.

Video Production

I have taught all aspects of film and video production and television studies at the University of Denver as an Associate Professor since 1995. I have produced and directed 16 films that have screened and won awards at Sundance Film Festival, San Francisco Int'l Film Festival, New York Int'l Film Festival and New Orleans Film Festival - among many others.
