Hello, my name is Bill F. I live in Canon City, Colorado. My wife and I were both schoolteachers. My wife focused on the primary grades and I taught almost all the elementary grades. We have three children. Our oldest boy just graduated in the field of Psychology and works at a hospital facility in Grand Junction, Colorado. Our second child is four months from graduating with is Doctorates Degree in Medicine. He will be heading down to Austin, Texas to do a two-year residency to further his education. Our daughter just graduated from college in the field of Music Theatre. She was accepted into one of the more difficult colleges in this region of the United States. She is now working near home and opening a “Silks” studio. She has been trained in Silks and plans on teaching that.
I went to college at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education K-6. I also earned two minors, one in Physical Education, and the other in Technology in Education. I also attended Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. I graduated with a Degree in Technology in Education. I have taught in three school districts in my thirty-two years of teaching. They are Custer County, Fremont RE-1 and Fremont RE-2 School Districts. I taught Title 1 Reading and Math for nine years (grades K-6). I also taught in the regular education classroom for twenty-three years (grades 3-4).
As a teacher at Fremont RE-1 Canon City Schools, I taught third and fourth grades. I was instrumental in changing the way mathematics was taught in the school district. I piloted three math programs over a three a year period. I wrote the math curriculum for grade levels K-5. I piloted a standards-based instruction and standards-based grading model. It eventually was implemented district wide.
