About Amy

Hello! My name is Amy. I first graduated in 2002 from the University of New Mexico summa cum laude with my bachelor's degree in elementary and middle school education. Though I absolutely cherished my student teaching experience while obtaining this degree, I decided the year before I graduated that I owed it to myself to pursue my interest in nursing as well. I was offered one of ten spots in an accelerated nursing bachelor's program at the University of New Mexico and thus went right back to school and graduated magna cum laude with my BS in nursing in 2004. I worked as a registered nurse in the emergency room, oncology and ambulatory surgery for 6 years before beginning graduate school at the University of Colorado at the Anschutz Medical Campus. In 2011, I graduated with my master's of science in nursing with a concentration in psychiatry. For the past 3 years, I have been working as a nurse practitioner in mental health.

I've found that I have a passion for teaching. Some of my greatest strengths are patience and compassion. I excelled in college while obtaining my bachelor's degree in elementary/middle school education; completed a year of student teaching 4th and 5th graders; and reading and math are two my favorite subjects. My nursing career has included 8 years of experience with children and adolescents. I also excelled in obtaining my bachelor's degree in nursing in 2004 and have over 10 years of experience working in the field of nursing.

If you are looking for someone to tutor your elementary or middle school student in any subject, or are a nursing student looking for a tutor while in pursuit of passing the NCLEX or obtaining your nursing degree, please consider contacting me. I would be honored to help!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
