I have a Bachelor's in Russian and Slavic Studies from New York University, as well as a Bachelor's in Political Science. I lived in Russia for several months in the summer of 2009. As a non-native fluent speaker, I understand the difficulties that many English speakers have with aspects of Russian grammar and vocabulary better than many native speakers.
After my time at NYU, I went on to get a Master's in Russian language and literature at University of Oregon, where I read many of the classics in their original form in order to complete my thesis work. During that time, I also taught a 100 level Russian language recitation, where I received universally positive evaluations from all of my students.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
