If you're looking for some help with reading, writing, speaking, spelling, or pronunciation, I can bring many years of experience to your table, having started my career at the elementary level and working my way up into high school and even college. I graduated from Regis University with a major in English and a minor in Spanish, and I've taught both subjects in schools. Later I got my Master's Degree in English Education, concentrating on teaching reading, writing, grammar and ESL at any level. I've also worked in private corporations as an English pronunciation coach for their foreign engineers.
I'm a world traveler, and in 2003 I went to Peru to research the mysterious Nazca Lines. In 2004 I published a bilingual children's book (English/Spanish) about these famous line drawings and the woman who discovered them for the world.
While I have technically retired from classroom teaching, I still have more years to do what I love best, and that is helping students one-on-one, like you, to excel in school. I'm open to students of any age to improve their language skills with English or Spanish. If you're looking for some help with reading, writing, speaking, spelling, or pronunciation, I can bring many years of experience to your table, having started my career at… Read more
Anita is helping my son with Spanish. He feels she is helping although we have only had 2 lessons. We look forward to seeing his future progress so that Spanish 2 will be easier for him next year.
Anita was very patient with our kids. Her past experience tutoring kids was evident when she taught our two kids.
Anita took the necessary time with my son to assess his writing improvement needs and has come up with a plan to help him. I've seen some of the tools she has used with him to generate thoughts and add color to his writing and they are great. Her approach is working, as I have been impressed with the writing my son has done so far. She gives him appropriate assignments that he can work on his own leading up to their session. It's been great to have her help. I would recommend her to anyone needing help with their writing.
I asked Anita to help me with my pronunciation, and she has been a great help explaining the phonetic sounds of every word. She is an excellent teacher, and I am glad that I found her.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
When I first began teaching Language Arts, I started teaching Grades 4, 5, and 6, where I worked on writing, grammar and reading. When I got my Master's Degree in English Education, I took higher level courses on how to teach all the basic English skills.
Accent Modification is my specialty, and I've been working one-on-one with clients in this field for over twenty years. I have worked with engineers in companies like Lucent Technologies, Avaya, Sun Microsystems and the EPA, as well as with private students
