I am a certified mathematics teacher in both Colorado and NJ with several years of classroom and tutoring experience. Prior to teaching, my professional background was in finance, banking, and information technology.
From a teaching and tutoring standpoint, I am always patient and encouraging. In addition, I try to foster a learning environment that motivates and builds success. I take pleasure in showing students that with appropriate instruction and a little hard work they are capable of significantly more than they imagined. My goal is to eventually get to a point where a student can be self-motivated to tackle any problem they come up against. So, whether your needs require basic or advanced instruction, I can help you meet your goals. Math concepts are very hard for me to understand and he was very patient and took different approaches to help me grasp the material. I will definitely call on him again
Kevin was super focused and organized. He stepped through 15 different types and levels of math problems in under an hour, and gave our daughter tons of tips and shortcuts for tackling them. It was an excellent session and we are planning on more!
Kevin was extremely knowledgeable and walked thru the steps with my daughter. He explained the problems in a way that she could understand. Very helpful!! Very nice as well!
Son has found Kevin to be very helpful in learning, filling in the gaps with school. Highly recommended Kevin for tutoring.
Kevin was very accommodating for a last minute appointment to help with a trig/pre-cal test. Very knowledgeable, patient, is able to explain concepts in detail and makes sure they are understood before moving on. Excellent tutor! Highly recommend!!!
Kevin helped with functions and graphing and explained the work in a way I understood. He really cared about my learning which made me feel at ease. He took extra time to work through problems with me and gave me extra help where I needed it. I'm feeling much better about my current math class knowing Kevin is there to help!
Kevin worked with my son on geometry. He handled him perfectly and my son went back into his tests with great confidence. He actually looks forward to working with kevin again (even if it cuts into minecraft time!)
Reviewed concept of extrema, local maximums and minimums and global max/min. Roles theorem and main value theorem. Also did examples of first derivative test and its implications.
Kevin not only knows & understands the material, he can explain it in a way that my son understands. We are very pleased!!
If you want to understand what you're studying, I would strongly suggest considering Kevin as your next tutor. Even though I arrived late to our meeting, Kevin was very understanding and patient. He will take his time with you until he knows you understand the material.
Kevin has helped me thru both trigonometry and is currently helping me with calculus. He has an excellent method of training you on the basics so that you have a true understanding of what is going on. This allows for further understanding as topics increase in difficulty.
Kevin is an excellent tutor for my son. He moved at a fast pace reviewing a lot of core concepts that he missed in high school. We look forward to his next lesson.
Kevin helped my son feel more confident in Algebra 2, took his time explaining it to him. He didn't waste any time getting started, looked at his lesson & immediately jumped right in to explaining the concepts to help him understand. My son felt very comfortable with him & hopes that he will be able to continue to tutor him weekly.
Kevin will be working with my son in AP Calculus all school year. Kevin had his first session with my son and already my son feels more confident about the concepts. He explained the information wonderfully and supported with working on examples.
This was my seniors first meeting with Kevin and my son said he really knew his material. It is important to my son to have a tutor that is also a teacher as teachers understand how to teach! He really likes Kevin!
He is very understanding and is there to make sure you understand and see the mistakes you are making and how to correct them. He doesn't just do the work and let you watch he gets you involved and asks great questions keeping you involved so you actually can better understand the material
Kevin has helped our daughter really understand the concepts behind the math she learned at school. She will be prepared to start the new year on a confident note!
Kevin is exactly what my daughter needed. He has taught her almost an entire semester of advanced algebra 2 (trigonometry) in 2 sessions! He is very professional and in tune to how she learns and keeps the appropriate pace with her. She can be very particular about who she will take instruction from and I am so glad it was a great match from the start. I would HIGHLY recommend Kevin for any advanced kid from middle school through high school and beyond. We are so lucky to have found him!
Kevin wasted no time getting started. We went to meet up with him for the first time and he started working with my son right away. Diego left the session with better understanding of trig and is looking forward to the next meeting. THANK YOU KEVIN!!!
Kevin breaks the steps down to their simplest form so that they are easy to understand and learn. Then he guides you through putting them together to solve problems. I have had 7 hours of tutoring so far. There is no way I would understand as much as I do if I was not working with Kevin. So far, I can highly recommend him.
Great review and help with some of my sons mental blocks in algebra! I will definitely be contacting Kevin again for more review!
So glad we found Kevin to tutor my son in college level calculus. Without his help he would not have
survived the intensive 5 week summer session. Kevin was patient and listened carefully to determine where help was needed. Kevin even accommodated us by conducting 2 sessions via computer. My son would not have succeeded in this course without Kevin's help. I would recommend Kevin to anyone looking for a calculus tutor.
From the first lesson, Kevin seems to be very knowledgeable of math subjects, which is what I am looking for. Very patient and pleasant. I am sure he can help my son to advance his pre calculus.
I am very happy with Kevin's help. Before he came to tutor my son, my son's grade wasn't steady at all which worried me. After a few weeks' tutoring, my son's grade has been dramatically improved a lot! I will definitely recommend Kevin to others.
Without Kevin's help I would have never passed Probabilities and Statistics. Patient and knowledgeable!! Anybody who need help in math he's the tutor that can get you through.
Kevin is very patient and positive in his approach to tutoring. When things were looking bleak for me, I hired Kevin and he helped me through! I highly recommend him.
He takes his time explaining things to you and makes sure that you fully understand what you are doing and why you are doing it. He is patient and positive.
Kevin is a very good tutor, patient and great at helping you understand what he teaches. The first time I took the ASVAB I did not do so well, then I got Kevin M. as a math tutor. After he helped me understand it I went and took the ASVAB again and passed and I did dramatically well. I give Kevin a 5 star review and would refer him anytime. Thanks again Kevin.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a BS in mathematics and graduated Summa Cum Laude. As such, several of the classes dealt with discrete math concepts such as logic and set theory, and counting and probability techniques.
I am a certified teacher and received a Recognition of Excellence award from ETS for the PRAXIS 2 (061) mathematics test. I am well versed in all of the concepts tested for mathematics teachers.
