I am a certified elementary school teacher with 8 years classroom teaching experience. Last summer, I made the decision to stay home with my now 1-year-old son. I am looking forward to working with K-5 students again in a new setting. I have a current Professional Colorado Teaching License and a Bachelors Degree from Arizona State University in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education.
I provide customized reading, writing, and math support for students in K-5th grade. My academic support is for students who are: below, at, or above grade level. Each tutoring session will be adapted to fit the needs of each students. Prior to developing lessons, I test all students in order to identify their academic strengths and instructional needs. From here, I know where the student is at and what he/she needs for optimum growth. Ongoing communication with the classroom teacher is essential. I communicate with the teacher before and after the tutoring sessions. In doing so, I am able to provide better targeted instruction during each session. Additionally, the home-school connection can lead to greater student success and confidence. I believe that all students can meet and surpass academic and personal goals given the right environment, tools, and support.
The resources and materials that are used during my tutoring sessions are the same as those I used in the classroom. Many are research based and make tremendous impact on student learning. I also incorporate hands-on, engaging lessons and provide constructive feedback after each session. My feedback is given directly to the learner. I also provide feedback to the guardians as well as to the students' teachers.
My goal is help the learner succeed on their own and feel confident about their learning. I provide the resources, strategies , and tools to get them there.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
