About Brenna

I have a dual certification in early childhood/early childhood special ed. Part of my assessment for your child will include using the norm-referenced Developmental Assessment of Young Children 2 (DAYC-2), which looks at all five developmental domains: cognition, communication, social, physical, and adaptive. By having a picture of your whole child, I can create the most effective educational support plan.

I have been a special Education teacher for the past six years, working with children ages Birth-8. My experience includes working in self-contained classrooms, home instruction, hospital care, integrated settings, and general education. I have also been a private literacy tutor for the past 3 years as well as providing private home-based instruction for children with disabilities.

I believe that all children can learn and that those with special needs are often underestimated. I believe in supporting children and helping them to develop a lifelong love for learning.

A large part of my work is family training. I believe that tutoring sessions should help enhance a child's skills, but also that parents should be an active part of their child's education. It is important to me that parents also know how to work with their children and can provide support for them.

Finally, I have a passion for working with children with special needs and it is my goal to help them achieve their highest level of success, confidence, and happiness.

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
