My love of teaching derives from my glutton for knowledge and lifelong love of learning! As a Colorado State University alumni and graduate, I learned that academic excellence comes from passion, dedication, and hard work! I understand that a subject that is very dry and boring can be very difficult to get through, however, I believe that motivation comes from an instructor’s passion. I can make mathematics and science fun for you!

I received my Bachelor of Science in microbiology and biotechnology as an undergraduate at Colorado State University and am currently enrolled at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus School of Public Health as a part-time graduate student to study Epidemiology. I am also employed at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus as a Professional Research Assistant studying the effects of human microbiome in health and disease. My lifelong career goal is to become a Medical Physician.

My teaching style is to guide you through the problems step-by-step. Each session will help the student understand the concepts and how to approach problems without feeling overwhelmed. There are two ways we can approach this, we can start by looking at the syllabus for the student's course and following a lesson based on the syllabus or I can come up with our lesson plans by assigning challenging homework to enhance the students learning. I am also willing to provide a periodic assessments and progress reports.

I can adapt the lessons to each individual student's needs and learning style and highly encourage students to be interactive in their learning as well and coming in with questions. Remember, there is no such thing as “stupid questions!” There are, though, such a thing as “stupid answers,” therefore the pressure is on me.

In middle school, I participated in this Math program called "MATHCOUNTS," which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that strives to engage middle school students of all ability and interest levels in fun, challenging math programs! In high school, I scored 100% on every math and science exams. In college, I obtained A's in my college level math courses. From these experiences and my love of math and science, I decided to devote myself in tutoring others for ACT Math, Pre-algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Trigonometry, ACT Science, General Biology I, General Biology II, General Chemistry I, General Chemistry II, Anatomy, and Microbiology. I have been tutoring online since 2012, person-to-person tutoring since 2006, and I was a Teachers Assistant for a chemistry high school teacher for 2 years as well as teachers assistant in a microbiology lab for 2nd year medical students.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve academic excellence in your studies!

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

Algebra is the language through which we describe patterns and is rudimentary to a lot of future subjects such as chemistry, physics, and even biology. Once you achieve an understanding of algebra, the higher-level math subjects become accessible to you. I strongly believe that basics must be first understood in order to understand the foundations of other subjects. Without the basics, it's impossible to move forward. Having many years of experience teaching math and having taught algebra in high school and college will help me to guide the student to their goals. With my background and passion for tutoring I am confident I would be a great tutor in algebra 1.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

You've completed algebra 1 and understood topics of linear equations, inequalities, and functions. I now welcome you to algebra 2, which is touch on systems of equations, inequalities, exponential and logarithmic functions, logarithms, imaginary and complex numbers, conic sections, and matrices. Don't let these fancy terms fool you. My passion and years of teaching math at the college level make me a great candidate to tutor algebra 2. I have helped tutor numerous students in this area. I feel very comfortable helping students reach their goals in this area.
Biology,

Biology

Biology is the basics to a more in depth and specific topics such as Microbiology (which is what my degree is in), Physiology, Food science, Medicine and even some Animal science degrees. Biology is a fun topic when you can understand the concepts and materials. As a microbiologist and a candidate for the MCAT 2015, I often have to review my biology extensively!
Chemistry,

Chemistry

As a scientist, I am required to know chemistry and often review them for my MCATs.
Physics,

Physics

As a pre-medical student, I often have to review physics for the MCATs.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

Helping students (K through college, adults) with pre-algebra had always been my passion! I've started out assisting my friends in math in middle school (since I've always received better grades than them), then moved to high school and college, where I aced every exams in math. My expertise in mathematics had encouraged me to tutor. Students who were tutored under me find themselves approaching problems with ease and in the process had a lot fun!

Math

ACT Math,

ACT Math

When I took my first ACT math, I scored a 16 on the exam, which isn't very good! After studying intensively and understanding the concepts and questions, I retook the ACT math for the second time and scored a 36, which was a huge improvement compared to a 16. I received admissions from several Colorado Universities and was above the standard curve scores in comparison to other students. I understand how hard the ACT was during the time of test taken, especially since I took the ACT twice. I can help you tremendously improve your score!

Trigonometry

Trigonometry

Big, fancy term, right? Don't be intimidated or fooled! Breaking the terminology down, look at the prefix, tri-, or "trig-" as it's sometimes called) means three, which you can already see that in math, the only shape that has three sides is the triangle. You would be right! Trig is the study of the properties of triangles. Why is it important? It's used in measuring precise distances, particularly in industries like satellite systems and sciences like astronomy. You might think I'm weird, but trigonometry is actually my favorite topic in math. I could honestly do trig problems all day! Out of the students in my class in high school, I was the only one who scores 100% on every trig exams!!! I really love trigonometry! Students who were tutored under me find themselves approaching problems with ease and in the process had a lot fun!

I took a 300 level course of Human Gross Anatomy and a dissection Human Gross Anatomy in college. Studying anatomy is heavily on memorization, but also understanding how each muscles, bones, veins, arteries...etc is named. When you have a strong understanding these names, you will have an easier time memorizing them. Being pre-med, it is recommended that I review anatomy because when you don't use it, you lose it!

100% happy, so helpful

Diana arrived at the place agreed upon early. She addressed all of my questions and made every to explain clearly how to find my answers. She was very knowledgeable and patient. I would recommend her to anyone that is struggling.

Knowledgeable and patient

She helped me understand how to write a lab report for a college biology class. She took her time to explain things and made sure I understood each concept before moving on. I would definitely see her again.

We did the session online and it was great!

My daughter is getting tutored for the Math portion of the ACT. We did the session online and it was great! Diana was patient with my daughter in reviewing essential formulas and going through problems. We are having a two-hour session this weekend. Highly recommend her. Thanks!
