I am a lifelong teacher and learner. I fell in love with computer programming as a kid and have never stopped. I was an engineering lead at Motorola's Secure Design Center where I wrote signal processing software in Python and C++. I currently teach full stack JavaScript development (Node.js on back end, React on front end) and teach data science. I love explaining difficult concepts in regular language.

My masters degree is in electrical engineering with an emphasis on statistical signal processing and complex analysis. This required advanced study of linear algebra, group theory, random variables, complex analysis and state-space representation of time varying signals.

I enjoy teaching by listening and helping students think through their problems, giving hints, not solutions. Encouragement but not shortcuts. I'm here to help you learn!

Computer

Computer Science,

Computer Science

As a computer and electrical engineer, I am required to write software in various languages including Matlab, C++, Python and JavaScript. My degree also required extensive study of operating systems, data structures and algorithm development. I understand how computers work at all scales, from Boolean transistor logic up the stack to front end code using asynchronous frameworks based on functional programming paradigms such as React and Vue.js.
Linux,

Linux

During graduate school I was the network engineer at Purdue University's Physics Computer Network where I built and maintained computers running Solaris UNIX. At the Motorola Secure Design Center I built reai time networks of computers running Linux and was responsible for routing and monitoring of real time voice over IP packet data. Strace, vmstat, /proc, gdb and valgrind are the tools of my trade. Writing software in C, C++, Python and NodeJs to interface with socket streams is what I do. I love teaching the joys of Linux/Unix!

First lesson with Mike

Mr. Mike- Was very patient. His tutoring helped my son to be more confident for his assignment. We will definitely request additional class in the future when needed. Thank you.

One of the best

I have had many tutors. Mike knows so so much. If you are looking to be a true professional. You do not have to look any further. I am so proud and lucky I found him.

Great tutor! Highly recommend

I had a question regarding Linux; Mike went above and beyond to help me, make sure that I understand, ask for feedback and way to help me do better. I really recommend if you get stuck or what to do better to talk to Mike!
