CU Boulder (Math and Econ)
Hi! My name is Morgan P. I am a recent college graduate from the University of Colorado Boulder with majors in Mathematics and Economics. At the University of Colorado Boulder I was a member of the Cross Country and Track & Field Teams, where I earned the Honor of PAC12 student athlete of the year in 2015.
I have over two years of experience as a private tutor and have also worked with children as a swim teacher. As a math tutor, my belief is that it is more important understand how and why things work as opposed to being able to use skills mindlessly. This technique of teaching allows students to build on what they have already learned instead of feeling hopeless when learning a new material.
My experience as a tutor has given me a love for watching students not only learn, and for watching them gain confidence in themselves. I also have a lot of fun doing math myself (which is something I try to instill in my students), and I learn a lot from teaching students.
I am professional, easy going, and enthusiastic about teaching. Hopefully, you can see why I make an excellent math tutor.
In high school I took math courses up to and including "Calc 2" and scored 5s on the Calc "AB" and "BC" AP tests. In college I took "Calc 3" or "Multivariable Calculus", Discrete Math, Real Analysis, Linear Algebra, Probability, Statics, and other upper level math courses. I had a 3.5 GPA.
Please feel free to contact me at anytime to set up an appointment or inquire with further questions. I have a flexible schedule, and will come to you! Hi! My name is Morgan P. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have over two years of ACT tutoring experience.
I have a math major from University of Colorado, and over two years of math tutor experienced.
I have tutoring experience in chemistry for over two years.
I was a math major at the University of Colorado where I took differential equations and numerous upper division classes that used differential equation concepts. I have tutored friends in the subject when they were learning it themselves. I believe that the best way to learn differential equations is by simplifying the concepts down to easy to learn steps, and then understanding what each step is actually doing in a mathematical sense. Understanding WHY is just as important in differential equations as understanding HOW.
I took discrete math at the University of Colorado Boulder, where I received an A in the class. (The school does not give out A+ grades). I also took classes that came after Discrete, that used Discrete, including Real Anaylsis, Combinatorics, Topology, and others. These helped me master Discrete Further.
I have helped my friends and teammates on numerous occasions on their discrete math homework and with studying for test.
I was an economics major at CU and have over two years of experience tutoring.
I have more than two years of tutor experience in English.
I am currently a swim teacher at the local YMCA. I am a lifeguard. I swam over 10 years on a swim team in elementary, middle, and high school.
