About Brad

For many years, I was a tutor in New York City and I worked with students from some of the most prestigious private schools in the United States. I have had students achieve perfect scores on each section of the SAT and a perfect composite score on the ACT. My students have gone on to be accepted into Princeton, Yale, Columbia, NYU, and other Ivy League colleges. In New York City, my rate was $400/hour, but I am now available through WyzAnt at a much more affordable rate. I tutor students for the SAT, ACT, and Math and Physics SAT Subject Tests. I have a master's degree in engineering and spent ten years working in the technology industry before I decided to make tutoring for standardized tests, math, and sciences my full-time career. I score perfectly on all sections of both the SAT and ACT. I also scored in the 99th percentile on the GMAT.

Each session with me is customized to meet my students' unique needs, strengths, and weaknesses to help them improve their score and succeed. Many tutors teach test-taking strategies, but the focus of my tutoring is on teaching you test-taking habits. By the time my students take their test, I want for their approaches to each section and each question type to be habitual. I don't have one-size-fits-all strategies. I have years of experience knowing what approaches and strategies will be optimal for each student. I love not only helping students achieve the highest score that they can, but also to teach them to think clearly and operate effectively under pressure. I believe that preparing for and taking standard tests in an intentional way is a great opportunity to grow, learn important skills, and build confidence. I seek students who are genuinely motivated to learn, improve, and succeed, and who are prepared to spend time between sections practicing what they learn during sessions with me.

I also tutor math (including calculus) and physics.

I'd be happy to answer any questions that you have for me.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ISEE

I have tutored eight students for the ISEE in the past. It is a fairly common test for private school students to take in New York City, where I used to live. The strategies that I teach for the ISEE are similar to the strategies I teach for the SAT and ACT, except somewhat simplified because of the age difference. Both the parents of my ISEE students and the students themselves have been happy with the work that I've done with them in preparation for the ISEE.
