Hello! I wanted to let you know a little bit about myself. I've been a college instructor for 9 years now, teaching Freshman Composition and Intro to Lit. In my spare time, I tutor. Hello! I wanted to let you know a little bit about myself. I've been a college instructor for 9 years now, teaching Freshman Composition and Intro to Lit. In my spare time, I tutor. While my Master's degree is in English Literature, I also am a math and science geek. I took quite a bit of science and math in college and am known to spend an evening working through math problems for fun. That means I tutor in a variety of subjects beyond English. In fact, the bulk of my academic subject tutoring is in Math (up through college level Calculus), Chemistry, and Physics.

I love to tutor, even more so than teaching, because I get to work one on one with a student to find out what particular issue that student has that is making the material difficult to master. I love to see students smile because they suddenly get it, whatever the "it" is. The last thing I want is for a student to feel like he/she just isn't good at math, for example, and never will be. I feel like I help students improve their confidence and self-esteem by finding ways to help them learn better.

I've been tutoring for 10+ years. I started out tutoring ACT and SAT prep, but I quickly branched out into other areas. I tutor Math up through Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, as well as for English and History classes. I've also tutored GRE prep and college level Accounting (I have an accounting degree as well). My students range from 3rd graders to college-age students. I am one of the most requested tutors in my area because I work hard at making personal connections with my students and discovering what makes learning difficult for them.

Hopefully I can help you/your student find a passion for learning again by helping boost your student's confidence and ability to learn and master the material.

Math is by far the academic subject I tutor in the most. While I have a Master's degree in English Lit, I was also pre-med, took 4 semesters of calculus, and am a math geek. I want you to go into the test with confidence and armed with strategies and knowledge!
