University of Colorado at Boulder (Biochemistry)
I am a former TA for organic chemistry at the University of Colorado at Boulder; if it's OChem you need help with, you can't do much better than me!
I am a 25 year old lover of language, science and mathematics pursuing a career in biochemistry. Until age 22, I was without focus in my life, having a dismal high school record and merely adequate grades--I applied to CU Boulder with a GPA of 2.5--in my undergraduate studies; however, change is always possible: I now have a GPA of 3.65. I have discovered an immense love for science and mathematics that I hope to share. This on top of my already long-standing passions of art and language. I'm an A student in Chemistry and Biology, I have been an amateur tutor and autodidact all my life and I have worked as a TA for the Organic Chemistry courses at CU Boulder. I earned my high school diploma ahead of schedule, earning a 32 on the ACT exam and a 4/5 on the AP Language and Composition exam, and teaching high school students over the years has reminded me of what it was like in those days, making me an excellent choice for ACT/SAT study help. Furthermore, I have been diagnosed with ADD since age 11, and if this is something you and your child struggle with, I have ample experience as a student with ADD and a teacher of students with ADD.
I have a gift for expressing complex ideas in ways that are easy to grasp, especially in regards to physics as it applies to chemistry, and I do so with the intent of providing a context to the subject matter that makes its importance immediately relevant and its consequences fascinating. If I can go from skipping school to full-fledged academia, so can you or your child (or both!). I am a former TA for organic chemistry at the University of Colorado at Boulder; if it's OChem you need help with, you can't do much better than me!

David is able to simplify difficult concepts and make them clear to the student. He reinforces a particular concept by giving the student as many problems as necessary so the student can demonstrate a clear understanding of that concept. Our son says that David challenges him and he now views math in a positive manner. Wish our son had met David sooner!
Although David was not a bad tutor once he actually showed up for a session, he was near impossible to communicate with. He did not answer emails promptly, was routinely late, and twice completely missed the very clearly set meeting time. Given his unprofessional behavior, I cannot recommend him as a tutor at this time.
David is an excellent tutor who is not only kind, encouraging, and patient, but also incredibly well informed and great at articulating material. It was really awesome how he helped me conceptually understand some concepts from Chem 2 instead of just turning to straight memorization like most people do. Also, he's very flexible and very approachable, on point and very focused, very friendly and easy to talk to. I highly recommend him as a tutor!!
David is so patient with my daughter! After spending a few lessons with her, he is figuring out different ways to help her understand what her math teacher refuses to take time to explain. I really appreciate what he has done so far! I would highly recommend Dave!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been a TA for an organic chemistry course. This involved running a lab and a recitation section. I prepared my students for tests and assessed their work in lab.
I have written much of an organic chemistry lab manual that was published and used in the teaching labs at my university. I have written much online work which has been well received.
David G. passed a background check on 2/13/14. The check was ordered by David through First Advantage. For more information, please review the background check information page.
After sending a message to David, you will be able to order a new background check for $7.99. As part of your tutor selection process, we encourage you to run updated background checks. Please also review the safety tips for hiring tutors.
