In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My knowledge of Anatomy comes from a combination of training in Massage Therapy and athletic pursuits. My expertise is in the muscuoskeletal system, physiology and kinesiology.
With the many things to memorize in anatomy, it is helpful to gain a more personal understanding of how our own bodies work.
During my undergraduate and graduate studies, I specialized in teaching and curriculum development, and my career has focused on instruction, language acquisition, and Chinese. I have ten years of teaching and curriculum development experience, mostly at the level of high school and higher education.
I speak fluent Mandarin Chinese in the standard dialect (Putong Hua), and have lived in China for four years, as a student, researcher, and university instructor. As an instructor at Jishou University, I have taught both ESL courses as well as Environmental Education courses in Mandarin Chinese. My instruction is highly student-centered, allowing students to be themselves in the classroom. One-on-one interaction with students is critical for students to gain confidence and receive personal assessment in their abilities. I believe that active classes with elements of expression about personal experience nurtures students’ motivation for language learning.
I have been teaching for over ten years with seven years of ESL teaching experience. I have taught listening, oral, conversational, global issues, and content- and task-based ESL courses in China, Japan, and Hawaii.
In addition to teaching ESL, I have other experience with teaching and curriculum development. While obtaining my M.A. at the University of Hawaii, I worked as a graduate teaching assistant for UHM and as a curriculum writer for Pacific American Foundation. As a curriculum writer, I developed place--based high school level environmental curriculum according to DOE standards.

I have taught for over 12 years. In many of my classes, I have given tutorials on how to prepare for tests and learn the materials in the course.
