Hi, my name Jim D. I've been teaching English courses in Colorado continuously since 1986 at elementary, middle, high school and college levels and have coached tennis, track and volleyball. A military brat (Air Force), I lived all around the US -- and Korea -- then joined the Air Force (pilot and navigator training) after graduating college. My freshman year of college was at the US Air Force Academy, then I finished up my bachelor’s degree in English at the University of Northern Colorado, graduating in 1982, getting a professional teaching license in 1986, and earning a master’s degree in English in 1995. I love teaching because I appreciate all kinds of people and watching them succeed. I enjoy tennis, traveling, visiting my four children, going to the mountains and music concerts. I divorced after 23 years of marriage and am single.
Although I am an English major, I have taught a wide variety of courses over the decades, many outside my field of expertise. I began teaching college in 2002 and have taught for seven different colleges and universities in Colorado. Presently, I am an instructor at the Community College of Aurora and CollegeAmerica, where I teach English, Psychology of Motivation, Philosophy, Ethics, Psychology, US History, and Communications. I have tutored for every college I've worked for, and tutored for Wyzant years ago for a Chinese woman working on her PhD and a high school student needing help in English.
I can tutor anything directly or remotely related to English.
Feel free to contact me anytime. This summer -- 2019 -- I teach college classes in the evenings (6pm - 10pm) every weekday except Friday. I am available to tutor any other time and on weekends. I look forward to meeting and working with you!
