About me:

Moving to Colorado has provided me with the opportunity to finish my degree in the field of Fine Arts, and Education. As an educator, and an art educator, I am receiving a double dose of education training along with development in all artistic mediums.

Field Experience in Art Education:

I completed 60 observation hours at Laredo Middle School, Cherry Creek School District.
I was employed for 3 years as the Art Educator, K-6 at Manzanita Public Charter School, in Lompoc, CA.
I was employed, 4 years, Developmental Daycare Provider for the United State Air Force.

Currently I have been accepted into the BFA, Fine Arts, Art Education program at Metropolitan State University of Denver. Background check and fingerprint requirements completed.

Primary Tutoring Focus:

My primary focus for tutoring is in the capacity as a multi-media art instructor. I structure lessons that involve the majority of art forms with the ability to develop creativity and expression visual media, (not digital). I create a developmental program based upon the age of the student, (ages 0 to 100) assessment of student's current art knowledge and skill as well as the students vision for their artistic success. I can incorporate art history as well as contemporary art knowledge and theory if desired.

Secondary Tutoring Focus:

I am available to assist with tutoring in academic subjects:
English (phonics, grammar, reading, writing, comprehension, research, formatting, essay structure and composing)
Math (Basic to Algebra)

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Drawing

I have taken College/University level courses consisting of Drawing 1, Drawing 2, and Life Drawing 1. I have advanced experience and mastery of all dry media: Graphite, Charcoal, Colored Pencil, Chalk Pastel as well as Oil Pastel. Direct drawing methods and indirect drawing methods, blending, sgraffito, chiaroscuro, mixed media. I have taught Elementary K-8 as the Art Educator for Manzanita Public Charter School.

Painting

I have taken College/University courses in Painting 1, 2 and 3. Have over 25 years experience in acrylic, water color, ink, and oil painting. I teach blending and glazing techniques in all media. Wipeout and resist methods, wet into wet painting, resist techniques, color theory. I have taken a one year course in advanced 16th century Prosopon School of acietn Egg Tempura and Gold Leaf techniques on clay board. I have taught 3 years of Art Education, K-12.
