My love of teaching comes from a passion to continue to learn as well as to assist students reach their highest potential. I know that through hard work and determination anything is possible. My job as a teacher is to help students realize their dreams then do all I can to assist them in reaching their dreams. As a tutor through Wyzant I hope to be able to accomplish this.
I specialize in working with students with special needs. I have years of experience in working with and advocating for kids with ADHD, Students that are Autistic, PTSD, and many other diagnosis. I am patient and have a clear understanding of what it takes for each one of these students to be successful. I am creative with lesson planning and believe in a hands on and visual approach as much as possible. I also have experience in tutoring general education subjects at the elementary and middle school level. I will provide challenging homework based on the needs of each student as well as provide assessments and progress reports in order to monitor the progress of your student.
I hold myself to the highest standard as a teacher and mentor to your son or daughter. I offer a free first time consultation and will continue to ask for your feedback in regards to my lesson planning. As well as continuing to do my own research in order to stay current on best practices.
I have a flexible schedule and will travel in order to maintain a comfortable environment conducive to learning. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been licensed to teach Special Education in Idaho, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina specifically with an emphasis in behavior. I have a certificate in special education from the American Board of Certified Teaching Excellence in Washington, DC. In addition, I have 4 years of classroom experience teaching special needs students with an ADHD diagnosis
I have a certificate in Elementary Education from American Board of Certified Teaching Excellence. I am state licensed to teach Elementary Education. My student teaching experience was at the elementary school level.
