CWC..Denver (bachelors' music)
I have been a professional pianist for 40 years. In that time I have performed with multiple major acts in many genres. Although I was classically trained, I branched out into blues, R&R, R&B, Jazz and lastly Gospel. I have found that I truly love to teach, which has been my passion for over 20 years. Several of my young students have received partial scholarships.
I teach all ages and currently have more adults than children. Studies have shown that to keep the brain "alive" learning to play an instrument is the most efficient way.
I love people and I love seeing the "light go on" when a student comprehends a theory I'm teaching. I am a good teacher and have taken a young man of 14 years with Asburgers through college. He is now in a graduate program and no one would ever know the difficulty he had in middle school. It was MUSIC and lessons that cured him.
Music teaches self discipline, passion, and joy!! I am not a traditional teacher. My students become a part of my heart and family. It is a privilege to pass on my experience and knowledge. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
