About Ona

Hello all!

I am not only a tutor, but currently a middle school teacher and a mother:) I have been teaching for over 6 years now, specifically working with Special Education students, ELL learners, or lower-level learners.

I understand that learning is all about being able to conceptualize ideas in order to fully grasp new concepts. I am dedicated to making sure that every student I work with is able to do just that!

What I love about tutoring is being able to give students the opportunity to experience success in their academics! I have worked with learners who have grown 3-4 grade levels in both their Math and Reading skills over the span of one school year!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Patient and engaging

Ona is very patient and willing to explain the process of solving a math problem in a way that my 10 year old can understand. She explains the "why" behind it.
